“Cheer Out Loud” – A new social media campaign to be launched by the National Council for Women and UN Women Egypt in partnership with the European Union to combat online violence against female athletes in various sports

The National Council for Women and UN Women Egypt, in partnership with the European Union, will launch a new social media campaign today entitled "Cheer Out Loud". The campaign aims to combat online violence and bullying against female athletes in various sports.
The campaign calls for supporting female athletes not only on the field and during competitions, but also by posting positive comments and taking a stand against bullying and online violence, with the aim of promoting a decent and safe online environment.
The campaign features four Egyptian female champions from various sports, including Amany Khalil, the first Egyptian woman to complete six races in a triathlon after turning fifty years old; Nada Hafez, fencing champion; Shaimaa Samy, Paralympic badminton champion; and Malak Hamza, trampoline gymnastics champion, alongside several young female athletes from different sports.
This campaign has been developed within the framework of the "Ending Violence Against Women" programme, implemented by UN Women Egypt in partnership with the National Council for Women, with the generous support of the European Union.
